{"id":10118,"date":"2010-09-20T06:24:18","date_gmt":"2010-09-20T10:24:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.yurasko.net\/wfy\/?p=10118"},"modified":"2010-09-20T06:24:18","modified_gmt":"2010-09-20T10:24:18","slug":"texans-30-redskins-27-overtime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yurasko.net\/wfy\/2010\/09\/texans-30-redskins-27-overtime\/","title":{"rendered":"Texans 30 REDSKINS 27 (Overtime)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So, does <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yurasko.net\/wfy\/2010\/09\/redskins-vs-texans-prediction-and-remembering-ian-howfield.html\"><strong>Ian Howfield<\/strong><\/a> wear gold pants now?<\/p>\n<p>Okay, that isn&#8217;t completely fair to <strong>Gordon Gano<\/strong>, the Washington Redskins kicker who missed a 52 yard kick wide right, in overtime. Gano had just kicked a ball through the uprights at the distance, but the Houston Texans had called a timeout right before the play went off &#8212; Bush league stuff that unfortunately worked. It may have been the ultimately in &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/blackandgoldtchotchkes.wordpress.com\/2010\/09\/19\/gary-kubiak-is-the-ultimate-icing-bro\/\"><strong>bros icing bros<\/strong><\/a>&#8221; (<em>The Starter Wife<\/em>, HT @<a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/b4cMV6\"><strong>DCSportsChick<\/strong><\/a>) too. The only thing I wondered about is why the Redskins did not do the same when the Texans lined up for what would be the winning kick.<\/p>\n<p>Some other observations from the world&#8217;s most apathetic Redskins fan:<\/p>\n<p>I flipped back and forth between the Washington Nationals and the Redskins before Drew Storen blew a 3-run lead in the 9th.<\/p>\n<p>The burgundy &#038; gold looked great in the first half and Clinton Portis had as a good a downfield block as you will ever see.<\/p>\n<p>I was at my parents house and I only watched the first half and last minute of regulation. At the half I grilled dinner, steak over charcoal, and then ate it. Like I said, apathetic.<\/p>\n<p>I listened to overtime on the from Vienna back to Alexandria. <strong>Larry Michaels<\/strong> has improved as a play-by-play man, but I am still not ready to spell his last name correctly. <strong>Sonny Jurgensen<\/strong> and <strong>Sam Huff<\/strong> have a lot more enthusiasm than when I listened to them last year.<\/p>\n<p>However, having played in the first sudden-death overtime ever and broadcasting Redskins games for over 30 years, Sam should know SOMETHING about overtime.<\/p>\n<p>I still maintain that sudden death overtime is the superior overtime.<\/p>\n<p>Oh and <a href=\"http:\/\/voices.washingtonpost.com\/box-seats\/2010\/09\/lets_be_honest_the_texans_shou.html\"><strong>if you are looking for a scapegoat, I nominate Jason Woodmansee<\/strong><\/a> (<em>The Post<\/em>, sort of) for his hubris.
