The MLB trade deadline has passed and the calendar has turned to August, so it must be time for the Big11Ten football kickoff<\/b><\/a> in the Windy<\/strike> sweltering City. This year, in addition to head coach Joe Paterno, Penn State was represented by LB Paul Posluszny<\/span> and OL Levi Brown<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Paterno was in a much better mood than he was at last year’s kickoff when the team was coming off of another losing season and his trip down the shore was interupted by his wife’s broken leg. He twinged his knee while accompanying his grandchildren on a Mt. Nittany hike a few weeks back, which gave him an appreciation of the frusturation that Posluszny has been enduring<\/b><\/a> (Patriot-News) since the Orange Bowl.<\/p>\n

“My doctor said, ‘You can coach 10 more years.’ I rushed back and told the staff, ‘Hey, I can coach 10 more years!’ I’ve never seen nine guys lower their heads all at once.” Paterno did an impression of the assistants, slumping his forehead into cupped palm. Big laughs from the 150 or so reporters.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Both Paterno and Posluszny said they are 100%.<\/p>\n

Also, Posluszny was named the preseason Big Ten Defender of Year<\/b><\/a> (CDT<\/i>) which is nice, but means very little. If he wins that in December, I’ll care.<\/p>\n

    The 2007 schedule was revealed in a FightonState.com<\/span> (basically Scout.com’s Penn State page) article<\/span><\/a>:<\/p>\n

    Penn State unveiled its 2007 schedule in its entirety. Next year’s slate will begin with nonconference games against Florida International, Notre Dame and Buffalo, all at Beaver Stadium. The Lions will also play Temple in Philadelphia, and will play Big Ten rivals Iowa and Indiana for the first time since 2004. Minnesota and Northwestern will rotate off the schedule.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    Oh boy, Buffalo and Florida International an impossible dream come true! <\/p>\n

    Seriously, the Temple game in Philly is pretty cool though and a must-see since it is much closer to D.C. than Happy Valley.<\/p>\n
