It was going to be knocked down and turned into a resort hotel. Well, the financing for that apparently dried up and the space reamins. Two different restaurants, Blackfish and the White Heron Grill (I think) came and went over two years. Blackfish was needlessly upscale for a casual beach town and not that good to boot. I can&#8217;t say what the White Heron Grill was like because we never went. This year though, we tried the third restaurant in 3 years in the old Henny&#8217;s space, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carneysstoneharbornj.com\/\">Carney&#8217;s<\/a>. We were pleased with our experience.<\/p>\n<p>We were promptly seated and server by our waiter, Patrick (I think). He was efficient and patient &#8212; clearly this was more than a summer job to him. My wife ordered a pomegranate martini, while stayed dry and ordered a RC Cola. Oddly enough, this was the second place on Seven Mile Island that served RC. It didn&#8217;t take long for me to decide that I ought to just have a ginger ale instead. Our waiter was very understanding. <\/p>\n<p>I did not get an appetizer, but my wife ordered oysters on the half shell. The waiter informed us in thorough detail that they and most of Carney&#8217;s seafood was local and freshly caught and that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carneyscapemaynj.com\/\">Carney&#8217;s has a Cape May location<\/a> that has been around for generations. We appreciated him taking the time to share with us as much information as he did. For the entres, my wife went with Lobster Grilled Cheese. Not being much of a sea food eater, I went with prime rib. The lobster grilled cheese was a hit while the prime rib was good, but a little past medium rare in a few spots. Overall though, we were both happy with our first visit and will likely return next time we&#8217;re on Seven Mile Island.<\/p>\n<p>As for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yurasko.net\/wfy\/2010\/08\/hennys-returns-to-stone-harbor-as-take-out-place.html\">Henny&#8217;s, it came back as a take-out place<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>STONE HARBOR, N.J. &mdash; After 75 years, Henny&#8217;s in Stone Harbor was sold and closed in 2008.
