Technically, the Southeast Freeway has always been I-695, but it has never been posted. Thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ajfroggie\/6416227115\/in\/photostream\">a photograph from Adam Froehlig<\/a>, we now have confirmation that I-695 has been approved and will be posted. Technically, it isn&#8217;t posted on any open section of highway yet. Yurasko.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n<p>The SE Freeway east of the 11th Street Bridge interchange loses the I-695 designation which is just as well since it will likely be turned into an urban boulevard. <\/p>\n<p>Of course, if the Barney Circle Freeway extension of the Southeast Freeway had just been built (for far lower cost)&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/wfyurasko\/137786320\/\" title=\"Barney Circle Freeway bridge (unbuilt) by wfyurasko, on Flickr\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/53\/137786320_15b8a22eda.jpg?resize=500%2C375\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"Barney Circle Freeway bridge (unbuilt)\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>PROJECT WEB SITE:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/ddot.dc.gov\/DC\/DDOT\/Projects+and+Planning\/Capital+Infrastructure+Projects\/11th+Street+Bridge+Project\">11th Street Bridge Project  <\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?saddr=District+of+Columbia+Hwy+295&#038;daddr=MD-295+N&#038;hl=en&#038;sll=38.878071,-76.974506&#038;sspn=0.071361,0.172348&#038;geocode=FX4aUQIdmERp-w%3BFYtvVgIdvUdu-w&#038;vpsrc=0&#038;mra=me&#038;mrsp=0&#038;sz=13&#038;t=m&#038;z=13\">295 corridor (which includes I-295\/DC 295 Anacostia Freeway and the Baltimore\/Washington Parkway which is MD 295 along the non-National Park Service maintained portion near Baltimore) will now intersect with two I-695s just 31 miles apart<\/a>.
