1B Nick Johnson limped<\/a> into<\/a> spring training<\/a><\/span> (The Post<\/span>, The Wash. Times<\/span> and The Free Lance-Star<\/span>) yesterday, not knowing when he will be in the lineup again. June 1 is being thrown around as possible return.<\/p>\n

In the bullpen, Luis Ayala<\/span> will not be rushed back<\/span><\/a> (The Post<\/span>) from ligament replacement surgery<\/span><\/a> (The Wash. Times<\/span>) while closer Chad Cordero’s<\/span> agent continues to negoiate<\/span><\/a> (Florida Today<\/span>) with Jim Bowden<\/span>. Perhaps the unflattened brims<\/span><\/a> (Nationals Journal blog<\/span>) of the spring training caps are complicating matters.<\/p>\n

Manager Manny Acta<\/span> is glad Pat Corrales<\/span>, who coached on the Braves staff for 14 straight division titles, is his bench coach<\/span><\/a> (Florida Today<\/span>). No word on how Corrales feels about rasin bran in chocolate milk though.<\/p>\n

Another day, another Jesus Flores article<\/span><\/a>, this time in The Free Lance-Star<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Bashing Viera may be so 2005<\/span>, but The Wash. Times’<\/span> Thom Loverro<\/span> does it anyway. He is not the ideal spring training spot for sportswriters<\/span><\/a> since there is nothing to do. That makes it ideal for a team that wants to keep its players out of trouble though. Barry Svrluga<\/span> doesn’t think much of the 45 MPH breeze<\/span><\/a>, but both he and Loverro like being close to the Kennedy Space Center.<\/p>\n
