The Nats lost to the Astros (ESPN<\/span> Boxscore<\/span><\/a>) in Manny Acta’s “homecoming<\/span><\/a>” (Florida Today<\/span>). The Nats manager spent 16 years in the Astros organization<\/span><\/a> (The Wash. Times<\/span>) and still lives near their Kissimmee spring training complex. Is it just me or are the Nats the team everybody wants to schedule for homecoming?<\/p>\n

The good news is P Shawn Hill<\/span><\/a> looks good<\/span><\/a> so far<\/span><\/a> (Florida Today<\/span>, The Wash. Times<\/span>, The Post<\/span>, respectively). Acta thinks if Hill remains healthy “the rest will take care of itself.” The pitcher had Tommy John surgery in 2005.<\/p>\n

Every day, P Jon Rauch<\/span> carries the burdens of being freakishly tall<\/span><\/a> (The Post<\/span>). He says he is 6-11 because “I grew up under power lines I swam in the Ohio River. Ate a lot of peanut butter.” He also adds that a Mini Cooper was comfortable than he expected. In 2002, he hit one out against Roger Clemens<\/span>, but had to be told to “run, dummy” by the catcher. By the way, he is a pretty good relief pitcher as well.<\/p>\n

Cristian Guzman<\/span> played shortstop in the “B” game in Viera, but will DH today. Acta has Guzman alternating days in the field. I am hoping Acta makes Guzman the full time DH during the National League schedule this season. Alex Escobar<\/span> was scratched due to injury. In other news, Jon Rauch is tall.<\/p>\n
