He has not yet secured a spot in the rotation, but <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">The Wash. Times<\/span> says he has &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washtimes.com\/sports\/20070315-122754-7544r.htm\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">all but made the club<\/span><\/a>.&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.washingtonpost.com\/nationalsjournal\/2007\/03\/its_simontaaaaaachi_with_a_fla.html\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Nationals Journal<\/span><\/a> expects him in the rotation.<\/p>\n<p>In other pitching news, <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Luis Ayala<\/span> will likely <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washtimes.com\/sports\/20070315-122801-7142r.htm\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">start the season on the DL<\/span><\/a> (<span style=\"font-style:italic;\">The Wash. Times<\/span>). It has been almost a year since he had Tommy John surgery and he is just not ready for the rigors of the big leagues yet. <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">The Post<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2007\/03\/14\/AR2007031402545.html\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">adds more<\/span><\/a> and also mentions that &#8220;closer <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Chad Cordero<\/span> and setup men <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Jon Rauch<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Ryan Wagner<\/span>&#8221; are the only sure things for the bullpen.<\/p>\n<p>SS <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Cristian Guzman<\/span> may be upbeat, but in the end he is still Cristian Guzman, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2007\/03\/14\/AR2007031402140.html\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">the vortex in the lineup<\/span><\/a> (<span style=\"font-style:italic;\">The Post<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p>There are only 18 days left to figure out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washtimes.com\/sports\/20070315-123928-5452r.htm\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">who will make up the Nationals bench<\/span><\/a> (<span style=\"font-style:italic;\">The Wash. Times<\/span>). Manager <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Manny Acta<\/span> is still planning on carrying 12 pitchers too.
