Manager Manny Acta<\/span> is growing a mustache and goatee until the team wins. Barry Svrluga<\/span> wondered aloud if Acta would resemble Methuselah when that happened. Following the game, he had a close door meeting with the team. Prior to the game, he met with Jim Bowden<\/span> privately. Everybody is remaining calm for now. It is reasonable to assume that the leading the league in errors was one of the topics Acta addressed.<\/p>\n

Hitting coach Mitchell Page<\/span> says that Nats bats are not in a slump, they just ain’t hitting<\/span><\/a> (The Post<\/span>).<\/p>\n

Loverro argues that it is the kind of splash Stan Kasten needs to make as a sign of good faith to the fans. Signing Jones would also mean the Nats would probably give up 18 fewer home runs a year.<\/p>\n
