The talk that John Patterson’s<\/span> last outing was promising despite the six runs he gave up has been validated. For the first time last night, the #1 starter (in rotation spot, not effectiveness) earned a win and hit 92 MPH on the radar gun. He gave up a mere run, on a Termel Sledge<\/span> (first National to hit a homer in 2005) homer in the third. He was out after 77 pitches though, but it was enough. Saul Rivera<\/span>, Ray King<\/span>, Jon Rauch<\/span> and Chad Cordero<\/span> each pitched an inning out of the bullpen. King gave up a run, but still got a hold, as did Rivera and Rauch. Cordero bounced back from Saturday night’s blown save and retired the side in order.<\/p>\n

Batting clean-up, Ryan Church<\/span> scored two runs. Padres starter Jake Peavy<\/span> lost for the first time last night.<\/p>\n

D’Angelo Jimenez<\/span> was designated for assignment.<\/p>\n

Church’s move to the fourth spot<\/span><\/a> (The Post<\/span>) in the batting order was part of a larger skakeup that put Dimitri Young<\/span> in the sixth spot.<\/p>\n

Two new parks, financed in part by donations, will be built near the ballpark<\/span><\/a> (The Wash. Examiner<\/span>).<\/p>\n
