The completion of<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vamegaprojects.com\/about-megaprojects\/i95-telegraph-road\/\"> the new Telegraph Road (VA 241\/Secondary 611) interchange<\/a> (vamegaprojects.com)was celebrated last week. The actual new Woodrow Wilson Bridge has been fully operational since 2008 or 2009. According to <em>dcroads.net<\/em>&#8216;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dcroads.net\/roads\/capital-beltway\/\">Capital Beltway Historic Overview<\/a> the whole Wilson Bridge project built bridges for the Inner and Outer Loops of the Capital Beltway, as well as new interchanges on both sides of the Potomac River, broke ground on October 20, 2000.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.yurasko.net\/wfy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/va611_tiny.gif\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.yurasko.net\/wfy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/va611_tiny.gif?resize=50%2C50\" alt=\"Virginia Secondary Route 611\" title=\"va611_tiny\" width=\"50\" height=\"50\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-20772\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.yurasko.net\/wfy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/va241_tiny.gif\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.yurasko.net\/wfy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/va241_tiny.gif?resize=60%2C50\" alt=\"Virginia Route 241\" title=\"va241_tiny\" width=\"60\" height=\"50\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-20773\" \/><\/a>I drove through the interchange on Telegraph Road and near it on Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria yesterday and found the signing to be a bit disappointing. While I-95 and I-495 are both marked along the Beltway in this area, I-495 signs weren&#8217;t always posted with I-95. Additionally, the VA 241 and County Route 611 signs were not as clearly marked as they could be. Of course, part of the problem is the confusing nature of those routes &#8211; VA 241 branches off onto N. Kings Highway right after the Beltway, while Route 611 continues south on Telegraph Road. Better signing would help clear that up.
