Examiner<\/i><br \/>A new Virginia law allows for tolls to be added to existing interstate highways:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The law allows the state to erect toll booths on major highways to raise money for improvement work on the roads. Revenue would not be allowed to be earmarked for work elsewhere, and the booths would not be permitted in heavily congested areas, such as the Interstate-495\/I-95\/I-395 interchange in Springfield&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;Unlike controversial new penalties for drivers who commit felonies and misdemeanors behind the wheel, the tolls will evenly apply to Virginia drivers and out-of-state motorists passing through the commonwealth.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So, at least when it comes to tolls, Virginia&#8217;s law is not unconstitutional like Pennsylvania, but I still don&#8217;t like this at all. Federal approval would be required to pull this off too.<\/p>\n<p>I hope the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.examiner.com\/a-809165~Va__issues_first__2_000_plus_tickets.html?cid=rss-Washington_DC\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">excessive ticket fines<\/span><\/a> are found unconstitutional since they apply to only to Virginia residents.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/website_3c1e0e40\/graphics\/technorati.gif\" border=\"0\">  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/tag\/virginia\" rel=\"tag\">Virginia<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/tag\/VA\" rel=\"tag\">VA<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/tag\/tolls\" rel=\"tag\">tolls<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/tag\/transportation\" rel=\"tag\">transportaiton<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/tag\/highways\" rel=\"tag\">highways<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"blogger-post-footer\">&copy;MMX William F.
