Next Exit: Reagen Nat’l Airport<\/b><\/a> – NBC Washington<\/i>
The Virginia Department of Transportation is replacing big green guide signs along Interstate 395 and made a big mistake, two actually. Now, far be it for me to knock somebody misspelling something, but VDOT put up “Reagen National Airport” instead of “Reagan National Airport.” The airport was renamed by Congress in honor of President Rongald Reaga<\/span>n in the late 1990s, a decision fraught with irony. <\/span><\/p>\n

Most Washingtonians, regardless of their feelings about the 40th president, still call it National. If anything, it is good way to determine how long someone has been in the area by what they call the airport.<\/p>\n

As for the other mistake, the clearview typeface on the signs. I’ve mentioned before<\/span><\/a> I don’t like it and prefer the old highway gothic fonts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
