I was also trying, mostly in vain, to get local Oktoberfest. Port City was the only local m\u00e4rzen I got my hands on, though I found some Old Dominion which was originally from Ashburn, but is now brewed in Delaware.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bluejacketdc.com\/\">Bluejacket<\/a> finally opened in D.C. near Nationals Park. I have not been there yet.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/experience\/food-and-wine\/tours-and-trails\/beer-tours-and-trails\/2013\/11\/15\/dc-craft-brewery-trail\/3520783\/\">District has a burgeoning beer scene<\/a> and USA Today is on it:<\/p>\n<p><object id=\"flashObj\" width=\"640\" height=\"390\" classid=\"clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=9,0,47,0\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/c.brightcove.com\/services\/viewer\/federated_f9?isSlim=1\" \/><param name=\"bgcolor\" value=\"#FFFFFF\" \/><param name=\"flashVars\" value=\"videoId=2829207215001&#038;playerID=2207682275001&#038;playerKey=AQ~~,AAAABvaL8JE~,ufBHq_I6Fnwgpz2JFHz_Jerf-MHxK_Ad&#038;domain=embed&#038;dynamicStreaming=false\" \/><param name=\"base\" value=\"http:\/\/admin.brightcove.com\" \/><param name=\"seamlesstabbing\" value=\"false\" \/><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"swLiveConnect\" value=\"false\" \/><param name=\"allowScriptAccess\" value=\"always\" \/><\/object><br \/>\nSometimes I get the feeling Port City and Bluejacket are racing each other to get the most media coverage. <\/p>\n<p><script type='text\/javascript' src='http:\/\/WTTG.images.worldnow.com\/interface\/js\/WNVideo.js?rnd=46555;hostDomain=www.myfoxdc.com;playerWidth=630;playerHeight=355;isShowIcon=true;clipId=9506302;flvUri=;partnerclipid=;adTag=General001;advertisingZone=;enableAds=true;landingPage=;islandingPageoverride=false;playerType=STANDARD_EMBEDDEDscript;controlsType=overlay'><\/script><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myfoxdc.com\" title=\"DC News FOX 5 DC WTTG\">DC News FOX 5 DC WTTG<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.arlnow.com\/2013\/10\/23\/heavy-seas-alehouse-opening-in-december\/\">Heavy Seas, a Baltimore brewery, is opening a taproom in Rosslyn<\/a> (<em>ARLnow.com<\/em>). I&#8217;m a fan of the m\u00e4rzen (a recurring theme in this post), which is sold year round. <\/p>\n<p><strong>MEANWHILE, FURTHER OUT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/goingoutguide\/breweries-and-bars-turn-leesburg-into-the-craft-beer-capital-of-northern-virginia\/2013\/11\/14\/603343d6-48ca-11e3-bf0c-cebf37c6f484_story_1.html\">Leesburg has become a great town to drink beer<\/a> with lots of brewpubs and other small operations. &#8211; <em>The Post<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/wfyurasko\/7403894908\/\" title=\"Devil's Backbone Vienna Lager by wfyurasko, on Flickr\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7232\/7403894908_39976fde5c.jpg?resize=500%2C375\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"Devil's Backbone Vienna Lager\"><\/a><br \/>\nI think Devil&#8217;s Backbone Vienna Lager (Roseland, Va.) is going to become my regular beer after I get through all of my Oktoberfests. It tastes great on draft at the Vienna Inn too. By the way, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blueridgelife.com\/2013\/11\/21\/devils-backbone-brewing-turns-5-years-old\/\">the 21st was the fifth anniversary of Devil&#8217;s Backbone<\/a> (<em>Blue Ridge Life<\/em>).
