Fun fact &#8211; Robert Portner developed air conditioning to make lager beer year round at his Alexandria brewery. Two of his great-granddaughters are going to open <a href=\"http:\/\/portnerbrewhouse.com\/\">Portner Brewhouse in Alexandria<\/a>, details TBD. They are also mentioned in <em>Washingtonian<\/em>&#8216;s<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonian.com\/blogs\/bestbites\/imbibers-agenda\/women-in-washingtons-craft-beer-scene.php\"> Women in Washington&#8217;s Craft Beer Scene<\/a>. Now, on with our feature presentation:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"512\" height=\"376\" src=\"http:\/\/watch.weta.org\/viralplayer\/2365225379\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" seamless><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The beer map! The Annual <a href=\"http:\/\/thenationalsreview.com\/the-nationals-park-beer-guide\/\">Nationals Park Beer Guide<\/a> is up on <em>The Nationals Review<\/em>. Service blogging!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.beergraphs.com\/bg\/420-nats-park-ballpark-beer-review\/\">Beergraphs.com also visited Nationals Park<\/a> recently and gave it an 86 (B).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/wfyurasko\/7403894908\/\" title=\"Devil's Backbone Vienna Lager by wfyurasko, on Flickr\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7232\/7403894908_39976fde5c.jpg?resize=500%2C375&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"Devil's Backbone Vienna Lager\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Devil&#8217;s Backbone Vienna Lager won <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/beer-madness\/\">The Post&#8217;s Beer Madness<\/a>, a regional beer tournament (that&#8217;s a big region). I&#8217;m a fan and have been since I tried it at the behest of <a href=\"http:\/\/slowstates.tumblr.com\/post\/24170279789\/devils-backbone-has-made-it-everywhere-i-know\">Slow States<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/doubleuefwhy.tumblr.com\/post\/24195873812\/slowstates-devils-backbone-has-made-it\">Once I found it<\/a>. It&#8217;s now my go-to during my now infrequent trips to the Vienna Inn, but I can&#8217;t seem to find it in stores of late. Harris Teeter shaved off $2 from the price of a six-pack, so that may be part of the reason.
