Nats beat Mets 5 – 3 in spring training opener<\/h4>\n

I got the catch the first two innings during lunch and the top of the ninth, so I did not see any of the scoring, but I did not care. I was just so glad to have the team to watch. Fortunately, I did get to sing “beat the Mets. Beat the Mets. The Nats just beat the Mets,” to co-workers who follow New York’s second team. Now, on with the headlines.<\/p>\n

    Residents of the Kingman Park neighborhood are against fireworks at Nats games, even opening day and July 4. I cannot get too excited, fireworks are nice, but having never seen them at a baseball game before, I do not know what I am missing.<\/p>\n

    Stadium preparations proceed as debut nears<\/b>
    A long feature from MLB about the RFK Stadium renovations. This article is not as rosy as the other ones we have seen, but it did not cause me any great concern. Also, nationals.com now has a     photo gallery<\/b><\/a> of the renovations, though it is not as extensive as the ones we have seen on other sites. Yesterday’s entry shows that the stands are in baseball formation now too.<\/p>\n
    The Nats also apparently have a theme song which was described by at least two sources as AC-DC-esque. Not exactly what I would have hoped for, but at least it is not hip-hop or country. I still think they should be playing stuff from Damn Yankees (the play, not the band) during the game. As soon as the song appears online, I will link to it.<\/p>\n
    IT SEEMS A LOT MORE REAL<\/b> now that we have seen the team in action. However, some are still not really convinced that after so much waiting, D.C. baseball is finally happening. I understand where they are coming from, I think I will know it is all official when I see Jose Guillen<\/b> or Cristan Guzman<\/b> saying “where your job is your credit” in an     Easterns Automotive<\/b><\/a> TV spot.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
