Courtland V. Cox<\/b>, who has known Marion Barry<\/b> since the 1960s and held posts with the Barry administration in the ’80s, has been hired as director of local, small and disadvantaged business enterprise development by the D.C. Sports and Entertainment Commission. The commission’s record on hiring local, small, minority and disadvantaged businesses is not great, something Cox is expected to change. Barry denied knowing of this hire, but praised Cox. The former mayor-for-life<\/i> is becoming increasingly active in the Nationals, which is not too terribly surprising — he follows the spotlight.
