It was self-evident. How self-evident? Even <em>baseball writers<\/em> voted him unanimously.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src='http:\/\/m.mlb.com\/shared\/video\/embed\/embed.html?content_id=530525783&#038;topic_id=7417714&#038;width=400&#038;height=224&#038;property=mlb' width='400' height='224' frameborder='0'>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Harper joins <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonian.com\/blogs\/capitalcomment\/sports\/washington-nationals-bryce-harper-mvp-statue.php\">Roger Peckinpaugh as the only baseball player awarded MVP in D.C. and as Frederic Frommer noted<\/a> in his <em>Washingtonian<\/em> piece, teammate Goose Goslin probably should have won in 1925. We&#8217;ll just have to guess that Goslin lost because he name, while pretty good, isn&#8217;t as cool as PECKINPAUGH. Then again, Peckinpaugh had 8 errors in the 1925 World Series which the Washington Senators (or Nationals) lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src='http:\/\/m.mlb.com\/shared\/video\/embed\/embed.html?content_id=530512783&#038;topic_id=8877508&#038;width=400&#038;height=224&#038;property=mlb' width='400' height='224' frameborder='0'>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Has anybody asked Harper what it&#8217;s like to be in the same company as <em>Mark Moseley<\/em>? There&#8217;s a good Bog post in that question.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Joe Theisman<\/strong>n also won that award for the 1983 season, and had a Peckingpaugh-esqe championship appearance, but even with that the Super Bowl XVII win, <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/qCLe8zVQHP\">he&#8217;s still best remembered for his leg getting broken<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Back to the modern day the question is &#8212; does Harper stick around past 2018? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/sports\/nationals\/harpers-path-mirrors-ovechkins-will-that-continue-come-contract-time\/2015\/11\/19\/e393733c-8e40-11e5-ae1f-af46b7df8483_story.html\">Thomas Boswell invokes the comparison to Alex Ovechkin<\/a>, another D.C. wunderkind thought to be a goner after he left club control.<\/p>\n<p>Ovechkin, by the way, just became the NHL&#8217;s all-time leading Russian-born goal scorer.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Pretty good night for DC MVPs RT <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CapitalsHill\">@CapitalsHill<\/a>: Ovechkin scoreeees! <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/CapsStars?src=hash\">#CapsStars<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/xFzWkcWkg2\">pic.twitter.com\/xFzWkcWkg2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; William F.
