All green. I had only seem <a href=\"https:\/\/jus.tia.mybluehost.me\/website_3c1e0e40\/2020\/08\/why-wmata-has-yellow-wrapped-metro-cars.html\"><strong>yellow-wrapped cars<\/strong><\/a> previously. Oh and cars wrapped with advertisements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is it?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I looked up the number on the car and saw that GV01 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wmata.com\/about\/news\/pressreleasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=5277\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>the track geometry vehicle which was put in service in 2012<\/strong><\/a> (<em>WMATA<\/em>). Elsewhere I have read that it&#8217;s a hydraulic diesel car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The pickle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are not a lot of references to GV01 on the web though it has a few nicknames.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/twitter.com\/wmatarich\/status\/948606769206579200\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Greater Greater Washington<\/em> profiled GV01 in 2015:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>A track geometry vehicle monitors the physical condition of rails and other track infrastructure. Metro\u2019s new vehicle entered service in 2013, and some have called it \u201cThe Pickle\u201d because of its bright green color and shape. Metro employees prefer to call it the TGV, or even just \u201cThe Machine.&#8221;<\/p><cite><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ggwash.org\/view\/38325\/meet-the-machine-a-special-car-that-helps-metro-run-smoothly\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Meet \u201cThe Machine,\u201d a special car that helps Metro run&nbsp;smoothly<\/a> <\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I think I like &#8220;The Machine&#8221; more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">GV01 in action<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chances are, you haven&#8217;t seen &#8220;The Machine&#8221; while using Metro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">You saw <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/wmata?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#wmata<\/a>&#39;s Track Geometry Vehicle, GV01. It was doing something unusual, performing mainline track testing between Foggy Bottom and Rosslyn during revenue hours. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/E4rEoSIW8H\">https:\/\/t.co\/E4rEoSIW8H<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kf6W7OLJXV\">https:\/\/t.co\/kf6W7OLJXV<\/a><\/p>&mdash; @MetroReasons@thepit.social (@MetroReasons) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MetroReasons\/status\/948592384031502338?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 3, 2018<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2017, somebody caught it going through Crystal City station though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"WMATA: Work Train GV01 passing Crystal City\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GpcizsTzpgo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I suppose this answers the question of why the money train was yellow instead of green; the color was in use already. Metro Board Looks To Bring Back Riders<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; <em>DCist<\/em><br>Since the COVID-19 pandemic is waning, what&#8217;s next for the transit agency? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My last Metro ride was March 11, 2020, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have missed it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s pretty simple for me &#8212; I need the bus line that I live near to resume operations and for my kids to be back in school.
