{"id":29899,"date":"2022-03-19T21:30:15","date_gmt":"2022-03-20T01:30:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yurasko.net\/wfy\/?p=29899"},"modified":"2022-03-19T21:30:15","modified_gmt":"2022-03-20T01:30:15","slug":"an-early-start-to-the-2022-dc-kayaking-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yurasko.net\/wfy\/2022\/03\/an-early-start-to-the-2022-dc-kayaking-season\/","title":{"rendered":"An early start to the 2022 DC Kayaking season"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Boating in DC<\/strong> opened two boathouses for kayaking rentals on Saturday, March 19. <a href=\"https:\/\/boatingindc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>A banner at the top of their web site<\/strong><\/a> showed that Thompson and District Wharf house were available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-gray-background-color has-background wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>UPDATED 4\/3\/2022<\/strong> &#8211; Thompson may not be presently open, reservations are not available online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/boatingindc.com\/boathouses\/the-wharf-boathouse-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>District Wharf location<\/strong><\/a> is accepting reservations for Friday &#8211; Sunday over the next several weekends. Thompson Boat House is not, so presumably walk-ups are possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.novaparks.com\/parks\/fountainhead-regional-park\/things-to-do\/boat-rental\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fountainhead Park<\/a><\/strong> in Fairfax Station is open weekends as well. Daily rentals begin April 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This season&#8217;s opening is about a week earlier than last year. More area boathouses will be opening over the next several weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Expanded Kayaking coverage for 2022<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several more kayak rental locations have been added to the <a href=\"https:\/\/jus.tia.mybluehost.me\/website_3c1e0e40\/dc-area-kayak-rentals\"><strong>map<\/strong><\/a>. In addition to the major rivers, several lakes have now been included.
