(@3starsbrewing) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/3starsbrewing\/status\/1545438350294892548?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 8, 2022<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Based in Northeast D.C. 3 Stars opened in 2012 as part of the first wave of inside-the-Beltway Brewing. <a href=\"\/website_3c1e0e40\/tag\/port-city-brewing\"><strong>Port City from Alexandria<\/strong><\/a> was first overall with <a href=\"\/website_3c1e0e40\/tag\/dc-brau\"><strong>DC Brau<\/strong><\/a> opened before anybody else in the District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Another class of 2011 goes goes bust<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of the breweries mentioned in <a href=\"https:\/\/jus.tia.mybluehost.me\/website_3c1e0e40\/2011\/01\/6-microbreweries-coming-to-d-c-area-in-2011.html\"><strong>this 2011 blog post<\/strong><\/a>, several are gone. Chocolate City folded in 2014. I am not sure if Washingtonian\u2019s Brewing Co. ever got started. Portner had a brief run in Alexandria&#8217;s West End as a brew pub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2014, I wondered when the &#8220;bubble would burst&#8221; especially after <a href=\"\/website_3c1e0e40\/2015\/02\/beltwyland-beer-4-years-in-plus-riggo-red-bull-vs-old-ox-minus-chocolate-city.html#chocolate-city-closes\"><strong>Chocolate City closed<\/strong><\/a>. Since then growth has continued and I lost track of how many breweries are open in the immediate Washington area. I&#8217;m trying to keep track though!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My experience with 3 Stars was admittedly limited. I don&#8217;t get out to breweries frequently, even in pre-pandemic times. The two lagers I had I enjoyed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"\/website_3c1e0e40\/2019\/01\/dc-area-brewers-caboose-and-3-stars-now-canning-vienna-lagers.html#never-say-never\"><strong>Never Say Never<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; A Vienna Lager with a James Bond reference? That&#8217;s WFY fan service (we&#8217;re all hearing &#8220;We Have all the Times in The World&#8221; in a minor key as we read this). Maybe I ran into it at Total Wine or Ace Beverage?<\/li><li><strong>Mittenator Dopplebock<\/strong> &#8211; I think dopplebock is my third favorite style after marzen and Vienna Lager &#8211; <em>my palette contains multitudes<\/em>. Nigel the Brew Cat, aka Mittens will live with former 3 Stars staff.<\/li><li>I also picked up a can of Diamonds are Forever when it was labeled in a baseball theme and had &#8220;District of Champions&#8221; on it. I never opened it. Beltway Brewing also has a District of Champions beer.
