Crime Scene Lager<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52288401134_99f032a7bc_b.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>A light lager with a little malt-forward. It&#8217;s surprisingly strong &#8211; 7.2% ABV and it comes in a pint can.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>A pre-prohibition style lager made with American barley and corn; fermented with both American ale and lager yeast.<br><\/p><cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cohobrewingco.com\/swag\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.cohobrewingco.com\/swag<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Solid pairing with hot dogs or BLTs. It&#8217;s a summer lunch beer. Reminds me of Schafer with some bite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cape May Brewing Co. Cape May White<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52288131563_5dec9d6fc5_b.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A solid choice for a summer lunch outside. Cape May White is an approachable Belgian-style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Cape May White is brewed with orange and lemon peels, coriander, grains of paradise, and our favorite Belgian Witbier yeast. Fruity esters up-front with an easy-drinking finish yields a traditional Belgian-Style Wheat Ale brewed in the heart of the East Coast.<\/p><cite><a href=\"https:\/\/capemaybrewery.com\/beers\/cape-may-white\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/capemaybrewery.com\/beers\/cape-may-white<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This comes in 12 oz. cans with a 5.2% ABV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Avalon Brew Pub Belgian Beach Bum Lager<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52287157232_cf95c1497e_b.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption><strong>AVALON, N.J.<\/strong> <strong>\u2014<\/strong> The only draft beer I drank down the Shore and probably my favorite of the three.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>A very sharp and twangy wheat based beer. The perfect alternative to those who prefer a spicy, less hoppy aftertaste.<\/p><cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.avalonbrewpub.com\/in-house-brews\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.avalonbrewpub.com\/in-house-brews\/<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is a bit more flavorful than that Cape May White and comes with an orange slice if you like. I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s packaged. 5.2% ABV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is there are quintessential Jersey lager?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;m inclined towards lagers, especially the darker ones like marzens and Vienna lagers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the commonwealth of Virginia, Devil&#8217;s Backbone Vienna Lager became ubiquitous in the last decade. It was so successful, the brewery got acquired by AmBev. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yuengling amber lager conquered Pennsylvania a generation ago and spread to other states. I&#8217;ve moved on (see above) but it&#8217;s still on lots of taps in the Mid-Atlantic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As far as I can tell, there isn&#8217;t a New Jersey-brewed lager that has reached the levels of those too. I tried <a href=\"https:\/\/dnbcbeer.com\/beer\/vienna\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Double-Nickel Vienna<\/strong><\/a> last year and would have gotten it again if I could find it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Come the evening&#8230;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/49692310562_41e6ee9f05_b.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption><em>File photo &#8211; taken 2019, Long Beach Island<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If there is a better combination than taste, time and place than a <a href=\"https:\/\/jus.tia.mybluehost.me\/website_3c1e0e40\/how-to-make-a-refreshing-gin-and-tonic\"><strong>gin &amp; tonic<\/strong><\/a> after a day of bodysurfing at the Jersey Shore, I haven&#8217;t found it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>STONE HARBOR N.J. \u2014 While I was down the Shore, I tried several South Jersey beers with lunch throughout the week.
