And birds go tweet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier reports estimated the trail would be repaired by this spring, then by late fiscal year 2024, but the newest <a href=\"https:\/\/legistar.granicus.com\/alexandria\/meetings\/2023\/4\/2380_A_City_Council_Legislative_Meeting_23-04-25_Docket.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Capital Projects Status Report<\/strong><\/a> (item 10) indicated a new estimated substantial completion as the second quarter of fiscal year 2025.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">South of Duke Street <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The seemingly simple bridge replacement (above photo) south  of Duke Street was supposed to be completed in 2021. Then 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Here\u2019s the latest: \u201cStaff report that the ped\/bike bridge South of Duke will able to be repaired within the next 12 months. It is a smaller and stand alone project. The rest of the repairs are more complicated with design in FY21 and build in FY22.&quot;<\/p>&mdash; Justin Wilson (@justindotnet) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/justindotnet\/status\/1297552627702562817?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 23, 2020<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A crew has been working on that bridge site for the last couple of months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8230;the city is pushing the contractor to accomplish as much of the work at 4600 Duke Street as possible so that the bridge can be installed as soon as its ready.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, theoretically, that portion may be reopened sometime this summer or fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Trail between Ripley Street and Beauregard Street<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The trail that traverses Interstate 395 is a bigger lift. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8230;the city is finishing the design for other sites on Holmes Run and the hope is, by August, the city will award a construction contract<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reminder, that was washed out in 2019. We&#8217;re looking at <em>six years<\/em> of the trail being disconnected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Previous coverage<\/h2>\n\n\n<section class=\"widget
