And this goes beyond presidential campaigns to every congressional district in the United States, where candidates seek to assure people that they&#8217;re not a part of Washington, but they want to work there, hold their nose and maybe freshen it up.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s kind of comical, because people fight, connive and scheme to get to a place they profess to hate, and then they fight, connive and scheme to stay in the place they profess to hate,&#8221; says Democratic strategist James Carville, who maintains a home in Alexandria.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>By the way, if you live somewhere that ends people like <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Bud Shuster<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Robert Byrd<\/span> or many others to Congress, you have no credibility on bashing Washington.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/website_3c1e0e40\/graphics\/technorati.gif\" border=\"0\">  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/tag\/Washington\" rel=\"tag\">Washington<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/tag\/dc\" rel=\"tag\">dc<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"blogger-post-footer\">&copy;MMX William F.
