Unwilling to abandon his job, even for a week, Bowden ignored the advice. He spent the second half of the season working as usual, and worrying in private about the growth on his forehead &#8212; and whether it was spreading.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I don&#8217;t think much of <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Jim Bowden<\/span> as a GM and putting off getting treatment for skin cancer makes me question his judgment. If he had waited until the trade deadline I could kind of see it, but even that is not the route I would take.<\/p>\n<p>I hope he recovers and is able to find a comfortable position in baseball that does not involve him being out in the sun or being employed by the Washington Nationals.<\/p>\n<p>Also, <a href=\"http:\/\/voices.washingtonpost.com\/nationalsjournal\/2008\/10\/ladnier_joins_front_office.html?nav=rss_blog\">the Nats hired Deric Ladnier<\/a> to be the national cross checker, a newly created front office position. Ladnier had been with the Royals before being fired in September, thought by some to be a surprising move.
