I am a bit skeptical of the long-term viability of the concept, but it seems to work in California.<\/p>\n<p>The more pressing matter is the fact there lanes will only be in Virginia at the start. The current scenario involves the additional two inner loop lanes ending right before the American Legion Bridge. Given that the bridge is already a choke point, how does having another two lanes merging really help matters? <\/p>\n<p>For this to succeed, Maryland has to build more lanes too and you can expect opposition there to building &#8220;Lexus Lanes,&#8221; so called because it lets &#8220;the rich&#8221; avoid traffic while the non-rich have to sit in regular traffic.
