The current Dodgers and former Yankees manager recently wrote a book with <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Tom Verducci<\/span> called <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">The Yankee Years<\/span>. Some feel Torre aired too much dirty laundry in the book, but even if he did, his record in the Bronx speaks for itself. After Torre is done with the Dodgers, there should be a <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Joe Torre Day<\/span> at the new Yankee Stadium where the team lets bygones be bygones and retire Torre&#8217;s #6. If <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Reggie Jackson<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">George Steinbrenner<\/span> can bury the hatchet, so can <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Hal Steinbrenner<\/span> and Torre.<\/p>\n<p>While we are on the topic of retiring numbers, a few numbers ought to be retired as well #2 for <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Derek Jeter<\/span>, #42 for <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Mariano Rivera<\/span> and maybe even #46 for <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Andy Pettitte<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, I saw Verducci, a fellow alumnus, speak at Penn State after his first collaboration with Torre, <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">Chasing the Dream<\/span> in 1997 or so.
