They have each been trying to get a long-term contract signed, but cannot get it done. Arbitration looms for Zimmerman and the team and both sides would seemingly want to avoid it since the process that puts management in the position of arguing against the player.<\/p>\n<p>All things being equal, I would not push to hard for a new deal if I were Zimmerman. This season, he has a stronger lineup around him, he stands to improve upon his numbers. However with the economy in the tank, things are not equal.<\/p>\n<p>Until the situation is resolved, either with a new deal of through arbitration, Zimmerman will not report to spring training.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/website_3c1e0e40\/graphics\/technorati.gif\" border=\"0\">  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/tag\/WashingtonNationals\" rel=\"tag\">Washington Nationals<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/tag\/nats\" rel=\"tag\">Nats<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/tag\/RyanZimmerman\" rel=\"tag\">Ryan Zimmerman<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"blogger-post-footer\">&copy;MMX William F.
