This morning Nationals president Stan Kasten<\/span> announced that Mike Rizzo<\/span> will assume the duties of general manager, but not the title. Officially, search for a new GM is on, but there seems little urgency. I am inferring that this means the job is Rizzo’s to lose. The rest of the front office will remain in their same roles.<\/p>\n

How all of today’s events impact the contract negotiations with Ryan Zimmerman<\/span><\/a> has yet to be seen. I stumbled on Kasten on Idiot<\/strike> Elliot in the Morning<\/span> today and it sounded like Kasten was the pointman on that process. A goal of Opening Day was set.<\/p>\n
