In observance of the anniversary, the <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">Sun<\/span> has a number of articles in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baltimoresun.com\/sports\/football\/baltimorecolts\/\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Baltimore Colts section<\/span><\/a> that basically say &#8220;let&#8217;s get over it already.&#8221; Yes, there is a bit of irony in those statements since the paper&#8217;s Web site has a regularly updated section a generation after the fact, but they are probably right. In the end, Baltimore got a new team, one that won a Super Bowl, and stadiums for football and baseball. The new team, the Ravens, came from Cleveland, but the NFL did the right thing and insisted the colors and name be left behind there and put a team back there three years later.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.yurasko.net\/wfy\/2007\/01\/in-defense-of-baltimore.html\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">I have said before<\/span><\/a> that while <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yurasko.net\/wfy\/labels\/Peter%20Angelos%20is%20a%20coward.html\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">I hope for nothing failure and misery when it comes to the Orioles<\/span><\/a>, I have sympathy for the Colts fans who were on the wrong end of what was likely the worst sports team move ever. Why move out of a football crazy city to an irrelevant midwestern city? The Colts left because of the <a href=\"http:\/\/vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com\/vault\/article\/magazine\/MAG1065650\/1\/index.htm\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">absolutely belligerent and incompetent Irsay<\/span><\/a> (<span style=\"font-style:italic;\">Sports Illustrated<\/span>), a drunk who shopped the team for years despite strong fan support. The team only after he died. His son, <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Jim Irsay<\/span>, still owns the team and missed an obvious chance to redeem the family legacy when he did not return the colors and logos to the city of Baltimore. Perhaps it was because <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.indystar.com\/library\/factfiles\/people\/i\/irsay_jim\/stories\/2002_1113.html\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">he was high<\/span><\/a> (<span style=\"font-style:italic;\">Indy Star<\/span>). The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baltimoresun.com\/sports\/football\/baltimorecolts\/bal-indystar-link,0,1827556.hyperlink\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Indy side of the story<\/span><\/a> is here if you care.<\/p>\n<p>On a lighter note the reporting of the move has been, shall we say, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baltimoresun.com\/sports\/football\/baltimorecolts\/bal-sp.coltsmyths29mar29,0,6390734.story\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">imprecise<\/span><\/a> over the years.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/website_3c1e0e40\/graphics\/technorati.gif\" border=\"0\">  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/tag\/BaltimoreColts\" rel=\"tag\">Baltimore Colts<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/tag\/BobIrsay\" rel=\"tag\">Bob Irsay<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/tag\/JimIrsay\/\" rel=\"tag\">Jim Irsay<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"blogger-post-footer\">&copy;MMX William F.
