Game time between our Nationals and the defending World Champion Philadelphia Phillies is 3:05 p.m. <a href=\"http:\/\/washington.nationals.mlb.com\/ticketing\/index.jsp?c_id=was\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Tickets are apparently still available<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washington.nationals.mlb.com\/ticketing\/index.jsp?c_id=was\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">The Nats have yet to win this season<\/span><\/a> (<span style=\"font-style:italic;\">The Post<\/span>), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2009\/apr\/13\/nats-get-swept-away-again\/\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">starting 0-6<\/span><\/a> (<span style=\"font-style:italic;\">The Wash. Times<\/span>) after dropping another game to Atlanta yesterday. Do we have a &#8220;curse of the good looking road jerseys&#8221; on our hands?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">President Barrack Obama<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yurasko.net\/wfy\/2009\/04\/president-obama-no-longer-plans-on.html\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">will apparently not be throwing out the first pitch<\/span><\/a> , though <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">Time<\/span> reports that <a href=\"http:\/\/thepage.time.com\/2009\/04\/12\/obama-biden-to-visit-dot\/\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">he will be in the neighborhood at the Department of Transportation<\/span><\/a> with <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Vice President Joe Biden<\/span>. Probably ought to plan for extra security lines just in case.<\/p>\n<p>The neighborhood around Nationals Park <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yurasko.net\/wfy\/2009\/04\/nationals-park-area-bar-scene-still.html\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">has not improved much<\/span><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2009\/04\/11\/AR2009041102036.html?hpid=topnews\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">due to the economic downturn<\/span><\/a>. There are some new things as reported by the always excellent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jdland.com\/dc\/index.cfm?id=2934\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">JD Land: Near SE Redevelopment<\/span><\/a> Improvement to the area should occur during the season though. The closest entertainment options are cover bey the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-srv\/gog\/features\/2009\/eat-drink-nationals-park\/index.html?hpid=gog\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Going Out Gurus<\/span><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-srv\/gog\/features\/2009\/eat-drink-nationals-park\/index.html?hpid=gog\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">FJB<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Going to the game or any other this year &#8212; might want to check out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yurasko.net\/wfy\/2009\/04\/metros-nats-plans-for-opening-day.html\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">this transportation information<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">4th Annual Cheesesteak\/Half-Smoke Challenge<\/span> (logo pending), a wager based on the season series between the Nats and Phillies is on as well. Matthew took the last two years, while I took the inaugural season.<\/p>\n<p>Despite all the doom and gloom, I am still very excited for today. It is a pleasant, if cool morning and I am going to another Nationals Opening Day in Washington D.C. This will be the fourth consecutive one I am going to &#8212; Fritz has been to all of them as well. In 2005, we went to Philly for the first Nationals game ever.
