Nats sign Hernandez to ease burden on young arms<\/b><\/a> – The Wash. Times<\/i>
\u00a1LIVAN!<\/span> has returned! The Nationals original, Opening Day pitcher, #61 on your roster and #1 in the heart of one distinguished blogger, has been signed to eat up innings like he was at a buffet. I’m pretty sure he knows a thing or two about the latter.<\/p>\n

\u00a1LIVAN! isn’t what he was during his first D.C. stint, but he tends to perform well in new environments for a little while, so I’m thrilled with this move. The team can “protect” some of their pitching “prospects” in the minors now. He also won’t be around to beat the Nats brains in like he did with the Mets. Perhaps he can be a teacher for the young staff as well.<\/p>\n

Collin Balestar<\/span> was demoted to Syracuse to make room in the rotation for \u00a1LIVAN! Dmitri Young<\/span> was put on the 60 day disabled list as well.<\/p>\n

\u00a1LIVAN! is scheduled to start tonight, in Chicago, so no, he’s not literally back in Washington yet.<\/p>\n
