Another ugly game for the Nationals in Philadelphia last night. Four baserunners were thrown out last night. If you are wondering how a team with the fifth best batting average in the league has the worst record, that’s one of the reasons. Surprise bunts did not help either.<\/p>\n

Livan Hernandez<\/span> pitched six innings of two run ball, before yielding to the bullpen. Three pitchers combined to give up four earned runs from a Jason Werth<\/span> grand slam off of Jason Bergmann that ended any notion of the Nats finding a way to beat the Phillies. Washington ended a 21 inning scoreless streak in the ninth.<\/p>\n

The Phillies have won 14 of 17 games against the Nats this year.<\/p>\n

Despite another significant injury, Jesus Flores<\/span> is still seen as the catcher of the future by GM Mike Rizzo<\/span>. Flores is looking at 3 to 6 months of recover time following surgery for a torn labrum.<\/p>\n
