Nats aren’t expecting hot stove fireworks<\/b><\/a> – The Post<\/i>
The Washington Nationals wish list (I don’t think we can call it a grocery list based on past performance) this offseason are a starting pitcher, a veteran reliever, a catcher and perhaps a middle infielder. Good luck with that, the market is not exactly flooded with these things and the first one is going to cost more money than the Lerners would like to spend. Tough, I say! Spend your profits and overpay to get a guy who can win 12-15 games. Give me a reason to go to the ballpark other than half-smokes.<\/p>\n

In addition to the usual suspects at the meetings like GM Mike Rizzo<\/span>, president Stan Kasten<\/span> (presumably), manager Jim Riggleman<\/span> is going for the first time in ten years. I guess that means something.<\/p>\n

Two things of note about this article:<\/p>\n

  1. Why are the winter meetings in Indianapolis? That city does not have a MLB team and hopefully never will; they already have one two many pro teams and I am not talking about the Pacers. Was Peoria booked?\n
  2. The Post has a winter meetings preview story and The Wash. Times does not. Doesn’t that fly in the face of all the Post<\/i> has inferior baseball coverage meme going around? I don’t know what to believe anymore. Get your act together Moonies!<\/ol>\n

    Nats hire Rizzo’s father as advisor<\/b><\/a> – nationals.com<\/i>
    Yay nepotism! Phil Rizzo<\/span>, father of the general manager and a lifelong scout, has been hired as a senior adviser. I’m okay with it though, because Phil was able to tell Mike that he wasn’t good enough to be a major leaguer.<\/p>\n
