Times<\/span> sports posted because time did not permit getting something together that was good enough. In short, that newspaper killed a portion of their business that they could really be competitive. D.C. sports fans are losing in this decision. Naturally,<span style=\"font-style:italic;\">Times<\/span> staffers are too, but as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yurasko.net\/wfy\/2009\/12\/will-wash-times-void-be-filled-maybe.html\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">I suggested in an earlier post that other local media could use this as an opportunity<\/span><\/a>. Already, one of the former writers on the Washington Nationals beat, <a href=\"http:\/\/masnsports.com\/2010\/01\/ben-goessling-joins-masn-as-na.html\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Ben Goessling<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">has been snapped up MASN<\/span><\/a> the cable channel that broadcasts Nats games. MASN is operated primarily by the Baltimore Orioles ownership, who voted against Washington receiving the Expos. Goessling was solid on the beat for <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">The Wash. Times<\/span> and an alternative to the &#8220;I hate sports&#8221; attitude from <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Chico Harlan<\/span> of <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">The Post<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly enough, back around Christmas, I saw somebody liked or commented on Facebook photo of snowy Nationals Park. In the comments, somebody named Ben Goessling had the following things to say:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>No Major League Baseball is currently being played on this field. No Major League Baseball will be played on this field next summer, either. I don&#8217;t see the difference. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When he was challenged on it a little bit, he followed up with:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>You&#8217;re right. I&#8217;m sorry. There are 15 other teams in the National League who WILL be playing Major League Baseball on that field. I stand corrected. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> Mr. Goessling, please elaborate on those statements, Nats fans would appreciate it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/website_3c1e0e40\/graphics\/technorati.gif\" border=\"0\">  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/tag\/WashingtonNationals\" rel=\"tag\">Washington Nationals<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/tag\/nats\" rel=\"tag\">Nats<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/tag\/BenGoessling\" rel=\"tag\">Ben Goessling<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/tag\/MASN\" rel=\"tag\">MASN<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"blogger-post-footer\">&copy;MMX William F.
