Solid, if unspectacular signing I suppose. I guess they figure <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Cristian Guzman<\/span> is not going to play second base which means he is probably at shortstop holding back <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Ian Desmond<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Some reports say former Yankee <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Chien-Ming Wang<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/voices.washingtonpost.com\/nationalsjournal\/2010\/02\/wangs_agent_we_havent_finalize.html?wprss=nationalsjournal\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">will sign with DC<\/span><\/a>. I think the negotiations went some along the line of<\/p>\n<p>Wang: What do you take me for?<\/p>\n<p>Rizzo: We&#8217;ve already established that, now we&#8217;re just haggling over price.<\/p>\n<p>Wang is really just a stopgap to take up roster space until <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Stephen Strasburg<\/span> and other young pitchers are ready. That and a euphemism that <strike>the gentleman of the Natmosphere have completely avoided<\/strike> noted.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of young pitching, <a href=\"http:\/\/mlb.mlb.com\/news\/article.jsp?ymd=20100213&#038;content_id=8073240&#038;vkey=news_was&#038;fext=.jsp&#038;c_id=was&#038;partnerId=rss_was\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Jordan Zimmermann<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\"> wants to pitch again in September<\/span><\/a> (<span style=\"font-style:italic;\">nationals.com<\/span>). He had Tommy John surgery in the middle of last season. He&#8217;s throwing the a ball 90 feet now.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/mlb.mlb.com\/news\/article.jsp?ymd=20100213&#038;content_id=8073030&#038;vkey=news_was&#038;fext=.jsp&#038;c_id=was&#038;partnerId=rss_was\"><br \/><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Kris Benson<\/span><\/a> (<span style=\"font-style:italic;\">nationals.com<\/span>)? Isn&#8217;t he just just <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Kip Wells<\/span> with a trashy wife? I think the pitching mound has had enough of the Pittsburgh diaspora. I suppose Benson could tell Strasburg about being #1 overall, but would any of it be good? Perhaps if Strasburg was instructed to do the opposite of anything Benson says. Seems unnecessary though.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.letteddywin.com\/2010\/02\/14\/presidents-race-tryouts-auditions\/\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\"><br \/>President&#8217;s Race tryouts<\/span><\/a> were just held. &#8211;  <i>Let Teddy Win<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, former <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">Post<\/span> intern <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Adam Kilgore<\/span> is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yurasko.net\/wfy\/2009\/03\/nats-beat-writer-chico-harlan-does-not.html\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Chico Harlan<\/span><\/a>&#8216;s replacement on the Nats beat. Like Harlan, Kilgore is a Syracuse grad, but hopefully unlike Harlan he <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">like sports<\/span>. <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">NatsFanBoyLooser<\/span> is familiar with Kilgore and <a href=\"http:\/\/natslooser.blogspot.com\/2010\/02\/news-about-post.html\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">pleased by the news<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of beat writers, <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Mark Zuckerman<\/span>, late of The Wash. Times, <a href=\"http:\/\/natsinsider.blogspot.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">is blogging<\/span><\/a>. He also <a href=\"http:\/\/natsinsider.blogspot.com\/2010\/02\/send-mark-to-spring-training_07.html\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">asked for donations<\/span><\/a> on his blog to send him to spring training and it was an overwhelming success. He met his $5,000 goal in a couple of days and has already doubled it. Good for him &#8212; he was the best reporter on the Nats beat last year and he is going to keep on doing what he did, but I&#8217;ll admit I&#8217;m not as into this whole thing as say, <a href=\"http:\/\/firejimbowden.blogspot.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">FJB<\/span><\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/misterirrelevant.com\/index.php\/2010\/02\/12\/ten-questions-with-mark-zuckerman-the-nats-blogger-who-raised-5000-in-a-day\/\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Mr. Irrelevant interview Zuckerman too<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/dcbb.blogspot.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Capital Punishment was going really strong<\/span><\/a> for a little while.
