    BEANO WATCH<\/h2>\n

    Today is a very special edition of Beano Watch<\/b> as we celebrate the 73rd birthday of Carroll H. Cook<\/b> (’54 Pitt). Here is more from Maryland Bureau Chief, Sam Basile<\/b>:<\/p>\n

    Beano said (on ESPN Radio) that 7 wins would be a good season for Penn State, and that Joe is shooting for ’06 to be the year he gets that elusive 3rd national title. He also mentioned that Joe wanted to be the first human to coach in three different centuries, (go figure).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    He also had a few things to say during his chat today, though he did not answer my question.<\/p>\n

    Mike Cincy OH:<\/b> Beano! What with the lack of respect for Ohio State this year? The media seems to think that the Buckeyes won’t do much, they thought that in 2002 also. What are your thoughts? By the way I’ve got some tickets to see the reds their yours if you want them. <\/p>\n

    Beano Cook:<\/b> Ohio State will be right up there with Michigan in the Big Ten. Penn State will be vastly improved.<\/b> Keep an eye on Minnesota and Wisconsin too. Iowa can’t be left out. The Big Ten will be better than people think, but still only the 4th best conference. Can’t come close to the ACC, SEC and Big 12.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    I am convinced that the opposite of that statement is simply impossible, so perhaps he cannot doom us there.<\/p>\n

    MIke(State College, PA):<\/b> Beano, it was recently announced that Tony Hunt would start the first game at RB, not Fan-Favorite Austin Scott…your thoughts? <\/p>\n

    Beano Cook:<\/b> Who am I to question Joe Paterno? I’ve heard that Paterno is trying to send Scott a message.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    Okay, that is twice now Beano sounds fairly sharp. What is going on? I think he could be right, it brings to mind Aaron Gatten<\/b> starting over Lavar Arrington<\/b> in 1998.<\/p>\n
