Stephen Strasburg dominates as Washington Nationals beat the Cleveland Indians<\/b><\/a> – The Post<\/i>
\nA battle, but still an effective start<\/b><\/a> – Nats Insider<\/i>
\nThis weekend proved that even though they have left the Washington Nationals, Manny Acta<\/b> and Austin Kearns<\/b> know how to hurt the team. The Cleveland Indians took 2 of 3 from the Nats at Progressive Field with Kearns hitting 3 home runs in the first two games of the series (both Tribe wins) for his once and current manager. Thanks for nothing guys! Oh and hopefully, we won’t have to hear about Acta on Twitter and Facebook again — ever. I’m sure he’s a great guy and he never had much to work with in D.C., but he’s got just about the worst current winning percentage amongst active MLB managers.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, the embarrassing performance by the Nats came to and end in Cleveland. Through 5 innings, the Nats had put 2 on the board. In the sixth, including Adam Dunn<\/b>‘s 14th home run. In the 6th inning they exploded for 4 runs and followed up with 3 in the 8th. That is not the story though, the story was Stephen Strasburg<\/b> having an “off day.” The rookie’s first start on the road was a tough one for him. He did not have the same precision control on his change-up and he actually issued a walk, then four more. Once again, he gave up a home run, the only way an opponent has scored on him this season. While he did get 8 strikeouts in 5 1\/3 innings, he did not look as sharp as he did on Tuesday night. This was the performance I expected in his debut, though I’m not complaining he waited until his second start to do it. Strasburg was troubled by a poor mound<\/b><\/a> (nationals.com<\/i>) — there was a hole where his right foot planted. He was slipping, particularly as the game wore on. His control suffered and it probably got in his head. Flashbacks to John Patterson<\/b> can’t be avoided.<\/p>\n

Drew Storen got out Strasburg out of a jam too<\/b><\/a> (Nats Insider<\/i>). Strasburg left the game with either a win or no decision facing him, but Storen prevented Cleveland scoring anybody they had on base.<\/p>\n

Of note: The Nats and Indians wore throwbacks on Saturday — Phil Wood called out the inaccuracy of the 1924 Senators uniforms<\/b><\/a> (MASN<\/i>, really, I’m linking to them?). Apparently, some 1960s Senators uniforms are going to show up for the Baltimore series too. Yesterday, Cleveland wore their Sunday uniforms which feature a block C cap. They ought to make that their regular cap. <\/p>\n

The Indians sold a lot of Strasburg merchandise<\/b><\/a> (DC Sports Bog<\/i>). Stan Kasten<\/b> must approve.<\/p>\n
