PROBLEMS WITH THE BALLPARK<\/h2>\n

Is RFK II in the cards?<\/h4>\n

Council To Revisit Stadium Financing<\/b><\/a> – The Post<\/i>
District CFO Natwar Ghandi<\/b> informed the council that Wall Street will not give a “investment-grade rating until the legislation is changed to correct several technical problems.” This means the council will get to reopen “Pandora’s Box” and could change a number of things, such as the location of the facility. Some council members, like David Cantiana<\/b> are licking their chops in anticipation.<\/p>\n

This is of course, holding up the lease, which is holding up the ownership being named. It’s GRIDLOCK!<\/p>\n

In the end I could live with an RFK II, but I would rather see the ballpark built on 1\/2 Street. The economic upside of building there is much higher than by RFK because on 1\/2 Street you can build restuarants, bars, apartments, and more that will bring in revenue EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR. A remote RFK location will only bring revenue when there is an event and most of that revenue is going straight to the Nats owners, not the District. On paper, it is probably a better deal for the owners to have RFK II. The RFK II location is also a longer walk from Metro.<\/p>\n
