Mayor Tony Williams<\/b> categorically says “NO!” to the notion of a $700+ million ballpark, insisting that no more than the agreed-upon $535 million will be spent, and that the higher estimates are coming from the anti-baseball people.<\/p>\n
DC baseball champion Tom Boswell<\/b> chimes in to advocate for the Anacostia site, saying that compromising and putting it at RFK is a waste, which I totally agree with. He summed it up very well, I thought: “Do it right or don’t do it at all.”<\/p>\n
Anti-baseball chief David Catania’s<\/b> “emergency legislation” to cap the costs of the ballpark. Though much of the council voted in favor of the legislation, it failed to pass by one vote (it needed a total of 9 in order to pass). Am I the only one who’s so tired of David Catania<\/b> trying his hardest to scuttle the whole deal?<\/p>\n
