That is pretty good company and along with nearly 600 home runs makes Thome a Hall of Famer in my book. Anyway, the local angle is that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yurasko.net\/wfy\/category\/mr-walkoff\"><b>Mr. Walkoff<\/b><\/a>, <b>Ryan Zimmerman<\/b> of the Washington Nationals, is half way to that milestone. I don&#8217;t want to jinx him, <strike>but Zimmerman has 6 walk-off home runs in less than 6 seasons<\/strike>. <strong>UPDATE &#038; CORRECTION:<\/strong> Cindy reminds me that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2010\/07\/31\/AR2010073103251.html\"><strong>Zimmerman beat the Phillies on a walk-off<\/strong><\/a> on July 31 when I was down the Shore, raising his career total to 7 in less than 6 years. Sorry for the omission folks, this is why I don&#8217;t take a lot of vacations from blogging.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of Ruth, some color photographs of his final appearance at Yankee Stadium are now up on the <i>Life<\/i> magazine site. Amazing &#8212; I&#8217;m not sure I had ever seen <a href=\"http:\/\/www.life.com\/image\/50453928\/in-gallery\/47141\/babe-ruth-rare-and-unpublished\"><b>Ruth in color before<\/b><\/a> when I think about it.
