Stephen Strasburg, Washington Nationals await results of MRI exam<\/b><\/a> – The Post<\/i>
\nAfter leaving Saturday night’s game<\/strong><\/a> early, Washington Nationals rookie pitcher Stephen Strasburg returned to D.C. for a second visit with the a MRI in a month. By now, he might have a nickname for it. He went through his normal day-after light throwing routine before the MRI though, reporting no pain. Strasburg experienced a similar situation in college with no ill effects. The team is going to be very conservative with Strasburg, though light throwing before getting the MRI doesn’t seem that conservative to me.<\/p>\n

Thomas Boswell<\/strong>, print’s biggest Nats fan, writes in The Post<\/em> that he wants Strasburg shut down for the season<\/strong><\/a>. When I saw Strasburg walk off the mound in Philly, I just assumed he was done. If I will wait for the MRI results before I definitely say he should be shut down. Not that I have any say in the matter…<\/p>\n

Washington Nationals fall to Philadelphia Phillies, 6-0<\/b><\/a> – The Post<\/i>
\nQuestions about Olsen, Dunn, Stras<\/b><\/a> – Nats Insider<\/i>
\nMeanwhile, after wasting the only decent Jason Marquis<\/strong> start of the season in Friday night’s 1-0 loss<\/strong> (Nats Insider<\/em>)<\/a>, the Nats could not get anything going Sunday either. Scott Olsen<\/strong> had some early trouble, but was only down 2-0 heading into the 6th inning. Then in the sixth he gave up a another two runs and the rout was one. Olsen seems to be a five inning pitcher at best and I don’t think he’s part of the future. A rain delay interrupted the game after the top of the 7th and the Nats could not get anything going against the Phillies bullpen either. In all, the struckout 9 times against starter Roy Oswalt<\/strong>, a pitcher they had previous success against. In all, the visitors were 0-9 with runners in scoring position yesterday.<\/p>\n

The Phillies now lead the season series 7-5, putting me in a tough hole to crawl out of in the Cheesesteak\/Half-Smoke Challenge. The Nats really had an opportunity this weekend and they wasted it. Boys, you are costing me money.<\/p>\n
