Expos’ new home still uncertain – The (Hampton Roads) Daily Press
A reminder that the decision will not be made for a while and that Bud Selig made a promise that any Expos move would not make Peter Angelo$ unhappy. Given Bud’s history, I am not putting too much into that alleged statement.
George Solomon – Talkback – The Post
George Solomon answers reader questions and this week they are all D.C. baseball related. He also has a few paragraphs in his weekly column (scroll down) where he wonders if Washingtonians should or will support Peter Angelo$ if baseball does not come here. I have no intention of doing so.
Ken Rosenthal – MLB should Capitol-ize on the Expos’ move – The Sporting News/FOX Sports
A Sporting News columnist makes the case for putting the Expos downtown and suggests that MLB give Peter Angelo$ revenue guarantees. He also thinks Angelo$ should sell the team because “the reality is, no neighboring team could damage the Orioles as much as Angelos has in the past decade.” Can I get an Amen?
Angelos unflappable in opposition to Expos in D.C. – Florida Today
A take on the Expos situation from the paper of record in their spring training home.
ONLY 33 DAYS UNTIL KICKOFF
Money matters: When it comes to running Penn State’s athletic program, every dollar counts – CDT
A very interesting look at the Intercollegiate Athletics spending for the upcoming year.
Ron Bracken – It’s time to rekindle the Pitt-Penn State football rivalry – CDT
Another call to renew the Penn State vs. Pitt rivalry. It would be nice, but I still think that it helps Pitt more than Penn State. Also, who cares what Pitt coach Walt Harris thinks? He’s a big whiner who will probably get fired before too long. He is trying to call out Penn State so that Pitt followers will focus their attention on that instead of what an underachiever the program is these days.
CREAMERY
Creamery continues its sweet tradition at Penn State – CDT
Mmmmmmmm, Creamery. Also, the new creamery is rumored to be set to allow flavor mixing. Wow, this is revolutionary!
A NEW BLOG
Friend and future rival (she’s headed to the University of Wisconsin) Brenda has started a blog, Little Caesar’s Daily R & R. The little Casear she refers to is her dog, not the pizza, with whom she spends her days hiking and biking across Colorado. She thanks me for encouragement and also remarks “I know that on my previous website I made some rather disparaging comments about web logs and the people who maintain them and now that I have one, I have reached the height of hypocrisy.” Hey, I am always happy help out. ; )
QUOTE OF THE DAY
I was watching the Teresa Heinz Kerry speech the other night and was trying to place where I earlier had heard that pattern of speech. Then it flashed to me: she has the diction of Ricardo Montalban in Star Trek II. She talks like Khan! I was half expecting her to conclude her speech with something like – “we shall leave George Boosh as he left ohs in two thousand…Behried aliiive! Behried aliiive!”
