5 – 4: Nats finish off Pirates, road trip

The Nats found a way to make runs and beat Pittsburgh, 5 – 4 to finish the road trip a solid 5 – 4. RF Jose Guillen continued making his previous teams pay for letting him go by hitting another two home runs. C Brian Schneider got the GWRBI in the eighth on a bloop single. Jamie Carroll got a crucial run in a botched pick-off attempt (Gene Collier of the Post-Gazette)Guillen. P John Patterson settled down after early trouble to pitch 6 1/3 innings. Hector Carrasco got the win for 1 1/3 innings of work and Chad Cordero got his MLB leading 23 save.
