STEVE JONES RECAP CANCELLED
Last night, Fritz and I went to see “The Voice of Penn State,” Steve Jones at Crystal City Sports Pub. Sadly, the evening was a little disappointing. Jones came off as pretty smug right off the bat and about half an hour in, he saw me taking notes and asked if I was going to put it on the internet and I said yes. He then threatened to walk out if I did, so, I stopped taking notes. Then, throughout the evening he kept going back to his fear that I would put everything on the Web, despite the fact I had put my pen down and turned my notepad over. I chose not to call him on it because I figured he needed no help in embarrassing himself, and the other fans in attendance did not pay good money to see Jones argue with another fan over something unrelated to the 2005 season.
There are probably hundreds of ways Jones could have asked me not to put anything on the Internet in a better way, but for whatever reason, he choose not to use one of them. So, in the end, I am not going to put up anything on the Internet about what he said, I will just put up what I think of him — not much. He was a little too impressed with himself and kind of a jerk. He speaks to alumni groups all the time, so he should know how to act like a professional. The organizer of the event apologzied for the way he dealt with me.
On the upside, the food was really good, the Sports Pub knows how to do bar food as well as anyone.
