WWN PENN STATE POST GAME #2
PENN STATE 42 Cincinnati 24
I missed Saturday’s game, only the fourth home game I have missed since ’95. I really do not have much to add other than links.

AIR PATERNO
In the second half, Penn State really opened up offensively with three completions over 40 yards.
DAN CONNOR
Sophomore linebacker Dan Connor is serving a ten-day deferred suspension that began Sept. 8. That means his missed yesterday’s game and will miss next week’s too because he cannot attend extracurricular activities until the punishment is served. Connor is thinking of redshirting, but the coaches are not high on the idea. Dave Jones has the complete story in Saturday’s Patriot-News.
THIS JUST IN… Linebacker Connor cleared to resume practice – CDT
Connor has returned because fulfilled the conditions of the expulsion — 10 of the required 20 hours of community service and a letter of apology to the alleged victim of the calls — earlier than required.
ALONG CAME MORELLI
Anthony Morrelli got some playing time this week in mop up duty. He went 4 for 5 and ran for a 1 yard touchdown.
STADIUM MUSIC
Yesterday, The Collegian had a number of letters to the editor (scroll down) in-line the WWN position on stadium music. A co-worker who watched the game said he could hear it being pumped in over the speakers. Oh and Guido D’Elia did not respond to my e-mail from last week. If things have not improved on Saturday, I will be escalating this to AD Tim Curley and University President Graham Spainer.
Today’s Collegian editorializes that the music at Beaver Stadium should reflect the tastes of the 20% of the crowd whose tickets are heavily discounted and are in the stands for the least amount of time.
STUDENT SECTION PERFORMANCE — MIXED
If you have not added Dan Victor’s Front Row blog to your regular surfing, you need to do so. You may remember him for his “Dan the Fan” columns in the CDT’s defunct Blue publication. He writes the best “Joe Sixpack” sports columns that I have seen anywhere, his defense of crappy stadium music notwithstanding. Some recent observations:
Apparently the freshmen section still has not figured out how to do “We are…” I never recall previous frosh classes having problems with this really simple cheer. Zombie nation indeed…
On the flipside, the students did redeem themselves by taunting the Cincinnati kick returner so well that he ran to the wrong end of the field in the fourth quarter.
BIG11TEN WOES
Beano Cook may have been right when he piled on the Big11Ten last week. Presumed frontrunners, Michigan and THE ohio state lost nationally televised games on Saturday, as did Iowa.
TICKETS AVAILABLE
So, who all is planning on going to the game? Does anyone need tickets? I told the guy I buy tickets from that I would ask for him.
