D.C. to Seek More Money From Baseball OfficialsThe Post
The District is going to ask for $44 million from MLB to cover two things: 1) Letter of credit to guarantee interest payments on stadium construction bonds in case of cancelled games due to things like a players strike, terrorism, weather, etc. 2) VIP parking. MLB is obviously not pleased. Jack Evans (D-Ward 2) is adament that the ballpark will cost no more than $535 million because that is all the credit that they can get from Wall Street. In the end, MLB is worried about pennies on the dollar and elicit no sympathy from me.
