Soriano Refuses to Take Left Field – The Post
Skipper Frank Robinson put Alfonso Soriano in LF on the lineup card and Soriano refused to play. He wound up leaving the park early.
Soriano will be in the lineup the next time the Nationals play. If he refuses to take his position, Jim Bowden (file photo) will try and put him on the disqualified list. This can only end badly. Will Soriano risk it? My feeling is he will and this will end very badly. The upside is Bowden will probably not last any longer than the last day of the season. In fact, if new ownership comes in any time soon, he might not last even that long. I hope not. When the ax falls, Bowden needs to be escorted out of the building by armed security in front of TV cameras at the very least! Tony Tavares should also be removed, but allowed to keep his dignity.

THOMAS BOSWELL – Nats Draw a Line in the Dirt – The Post
Bos is applauding the stand that the Nats appear to be taking and notes how it would be handled in Japan and Cuba. So what? This just a thorougholy irresponsible trade, something that becomes more apparent the more we learn about it. The new owners can’t not fire Bowden, keeping him is a public relations and operational nightmare.

Guillen Up For More At-Bats – The Post
Here is the funny part of it all, we are left wondering why Soriano can’t be a good team player like RF Jose Guillen.
