Today is the 132nd run for the roses and as always, my family is having a party. All the usual traditions will be observed — mint juleps all around, the singing of “My Old Kentucky Home” (poorly), dollar bets, and my brother missing the party because he will be out of town. Ladies are also wearing hats this year. We might have some li’l smokies too.
Also, tradition dictates that I post a link to coverage from the Courier-Journal in Louisville and Hunter S. Thompson’s The Kentucky Derby is Decadent and Depraved.
