This is only the second time Penn State has visited West Lafyette in the 21st century. Penn State owns the series, losing only once.
Purdue and Penn State have identical 5-3 records. Neither team has beaten anybody of significance and both have some weaknesses. Not surprisingly for Purdue, it is the defense. For Penn State it is the offensive line. Last week, Purude’s offense couldn’t do anything and lost to Wisconsin. Penn State’s couldn’t do anything aganist Illinois, but found a way to win.

Penn State is still unranked in the major college polls and will be for sometime. The next opprutunity to get back in is winning the next two games. They probably aren’t the best 5-3 team in the country.
