Well, not really, but beatwriter Barry Svrluga is back at Spring Training, blogging about the Nats. In 2005 Nationals Journal was a smashing success, introducing the world to the genius of Svrluga, making the team appear to be interesting and revealing that Viera was a had but one place to eat, Panera Bread. Apparently, other options have since opened and Svrluga will be exploring them. I don’t think I like that, but Svrluga will probably make it work. There is video too.

To some degree the brilliant D.C. Sports Bog probably owes its existence to the success of Nationals Journal. Svrluga proved sports blogging was viable for washingtonpost.com.

Last year Svrluga was at the Olympics, so he missed most of spring training and skipped blogging all together. This year is Svrluga’s last season on the Nats beat, so we get to enjoy this one more time before he moves on to other things.
